At Kastelli International Airport in Crete, NOE fabricated and erected the steel structure of the air traffic control tower and of three passenger boarding bridges.

The work came to 800 tonnes of structural steel, carried out over five months. The tower and the boarding bridges called for close dimensional control and precise installation tolerances: in steel structures of this size, even small deviations in fabrication cause difficulties at assembly and erection.

The five-month schedule put particular demands on production planning and site coordination. Fabrication was organised around the installation requirements, with consistent quality and compliance with the engineering specifications. Large steel components were handled, positioned and erected to careful planning, with safety a key consideration throughout.
